How It Works

The Most Consistent Player (MCP) is awarded to the member who has not won a Swing, but has played the 'steadiest' golf throughout the Swings. This rewards someone who has played consistently well throughout the year, but either could not manage to make it to all the tournaments in a particular Swing or didn't quite play well enough to secure a Swing Order of Merit, but always seemed to be there or thereabouts.

The member who tops the list at the end of The Spring Swing 2010 becomes The MCP 2009-2010.

The way we work out your Swing Average (SA) is to add the scores of your best 2 tournaments in each Swing. However, we subtract 1 point for every missed cut (MC) in that Swing.
So if your best 2 scores added up to 23 and you missed 1 cut, your SA would be 22 (23-1).

A negative score hurts your Swing Average. This usually means you missed more cuts on that Swing, than points made.

To get your MCP Average score we then divide the sum total of all your SA by your Category.
We have developed Categories to make it fairer for all members to stand a chance to win MCP.

    Categories
  • Category A: Members who were eligible from the beginning of 2009 (divide by 12)
  • Category B: Members who were eligible from The Spring Swing 2009 (divide by 10)
  • Category C: Members who were eligible from The Summer Swing 2009 (divide by 8)
  • Category D: Members who were eligible halfway through The Winter Swing 09 (divide by 11)
  • Category E: Members who were eligible halfway through The Spring Swing 09 (divide by 9)
  • Category F: Members who were eligible halfway through The Summer Swing 09, or later (divide by 7)
  • Category G: Members who were eligible for last tournament of The Winter Swing 09 (divide by 10.5)
  • Category H: Members who were eligible for last tournament of The Spring Swing 09 (divide by 8.5)
  • Category I : Medical Exception: Cat A members who missed a swing through medical reasons (divide by 10)
  • Category J : Partial Medical Exception: Cat A members who missed half a swing through medical reasons (divide by 11)
  • Category K : Medical Exception: Cat B members who missed a swing through medical reasons (divide by 8)
  • Category L : Partial Medical Exception: Cat B members who missed half a swing through medical reasons (divide by 9)
  • Category M : Medical Exception: Cat C members who missed a swing through medical reasons (divide by 6)
  • Category N : Partial Medical Exception: Cat C members who missed half a swing through medical reasons (divide by 7)

If there is a tie for 1st place at the end of the season. Then the player with the least missed cuts will be the winner. If there is still a tie after taking into account missed cuts, then we look at the players Expected Finishing Position. If players are still tied, then we go to their Points Average. (These statistics can be found on their Profile Page, by clicking on the Statistics icon).

Members who miss a Swing are not eligible for MCP.
